Marek Suchański, professor of Military Communication Institute was born on 24.08.1947 in Żnin (Poland). In 1970 he graduated from Military University of Technology (MUT). In 1978 and 2013 he obtained scientific degrees of Ph.D. and D.Sc from Electronic Department of MUT.

In 1970 he got employed in MCI where he led research projects in the area of radiocommunication, particulary concerning electromagnetic waves propagation – especially in ionosphere. At this time he was a member and the leader of numerous teams carrying out many scientific projects – results of majority of them were implemented into production and usage in Polish armed forces (Shelter of Spectrum Control, ionosonde KOS and others).
Between 1991 and 2009 he was the managing director (MD) of MCI and coordinated many scientific research projects in the area of telecommunication, which resulted among others in implementation of military digital communication systems, bulk encryption devices, Tempest computers.
Before the end of this term of office as the MD of the Institute, MCI was classified in A category by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
Since 2009 he has continued scientific activity in MCI in the area of radiocommunication, especially in dynamic spectrum management for cognitive radio.
D.Sc. Marek Suchanski is a member of Elctromagnetic Compatibility Section and of Telecommunication Section in Polish Academy of Sciences.
Moreover he is a representative of Poland in NATO Task Group IST-104/RTG-050 “Cognitive Radio” in NATO-II and in NATO Working Group IST ET 091 “Electromagnetic Environmental Situational Awarness for NATO”.
In 1998 he began organizing a conference on military communications and information systems. This conference reached the status of international event held in different European countries.
D.Sc. Marek Suchanski is an author of a monography and about 60 publications in journals and conferences.
