Maciej Urbański received M.Sc. (2016) and Ph.D. (2023) degrees in the field of electronics from the Warsaw University of Technology. The PhD thesis „Development of Phase Reference Distribution Systems of Linear Particle Accelerators with Femtosecond Stability” was defended with distinction and subsequently distinguished in the 2024 Polish national competition for the best PhD thesis in the field of radiocommunication and multimedia techniques.
Dr Maciej Urbanski’s field of interest and professional expertise is the development of particle accelerator control systems. From 2014 to 2022, as part of a collaboration between the Institute of Electronic Systems (ISE) at WUT and the German particle accelerator research facility DESY (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron) in Hamburg, he contributed to the development of key components for the FLASH, European XFEL, SINBAD, and PETRA IV accelerators. Since 2023, he has been cooperating with the European Spallation Source (ESS) facility in Sweden, where he is involved in signal integrity aspects of the beam position monitoring system. Since 2025, Dr Maciej Urbanski has been co-working with the American particle accelerator facility Fermilab in Illinois, being responsible for components for the phase reference distribution system (PRDS) for the PIP-II accelerator. Since 2023, he has been employed as a research & teaching assistant professor.
